Home Sweet Home

Its been more than a month since my family and I have arrived in Kenya. Yet, we’re very well on our way to call Nairobi home.

About two weeks ago we moved into our new house and since then we’ve been unpacking and settling in. Weekly responsibilities are becoming more clear and building new relationships are at the daily forefront of our activities. Being established in a new community in a different culture may seem difficult. Yet, we’ve been thoroughly welcomed and seem to enjoy favour with our neighbours. It is really exciting and such an adventure to meet new people and experience their unique cultures.

I’ve been thinking about the book of Acts lately whilst my family and I were moving in and finding our feet during the last couple of weeks.

I was wondering about all the disciples and their families that “were scattered throughout the region.” We didn’t have to leave because of persecution like we read in Acts 8, but we have experienced, if only to a small extent, the “scattering” to a new place.

What an adventure it is to go for the sake of the King. What a privilege it is to start over for the sake of the King. What a joy to take your family with you, for the sake of the King!

From here on out I would like to keep to the “scattered” theme in Acts 8. These men and woman who started over in new towns and cities were also known for the fact that everywhere they went they preached the word of God. These are referred to the faceless ordinary men and woman who took the gospel out from Jerusalem into the rest of the world. Many of these are unknown to the records of history but held in high regard in the courts of the King. These were the ones that caused all of heaven to explode with joy as their message brought many into the Kingdom during the first century after the death of Christ.

What a legacy. What a witness. What a calling.

By God’s grace we will continue going. By God’s grace you do too.

Some prayer points.

We have met with one of the chaplains that has authority over the spiritual matters that impacts the university. We are really trusting to have strong relationships with all the chaplains (there are 4). These chaplains are instrumental to us having a continuous and effective ministry on campus.

We are also doing some corporate weekly outreaches on campus. These include prayer walking and engaging the student with mostly spiritual conversations, as a means to communicate the gospel. Please pray for the heart of the students to be prepared for these encounters.

Thank you for everyone’s ongoing passionate support, in every way.

Love and Regards
